What Is A Character Trait?

  • Character traits are valued aspects of a person's behavior. Character traits are often labeled with descriptive adjectives as listed below. A character trait has been assigned to each month of the school year. Our students will be introduced to a character trait each month and challenged to practice the trait at school and at home in going beyond being a habit - but who they are. 

  • November - Caring 
    Character Definition: Caring - Being kind to yourself and others; being compassionate; showing that you care; expressing gratitude; forgiving others; helping people in need. 

    December - Generosity 
    Character Definition: Generosity - The quality of being kind and generous; doing or giving more than is usual or expected.

    January - Friendship 
    Character Definition: Friendship - The state of being a friend; having a close relationship; having mutual trust and support from someone. 

    February - Respect 
    Character Definition: Respect - Treating others with respect; following the “Golden Rule;” being tolerant and accepting of others and differences; dealing peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements. 

    March - Cooperation 
    Character Definition: Patience - Working together to do more than you can do.

    April - Kindness 
    Character Definition: Kindness - Being friendly; being generous; being considerate of others; acting out of thoughts for others; being gentle, showing concern. 

    May - Honesty 
    Character Definition: Honesty - includes telling the truth (not lying), not hiding the truth (deceiving), and acting in a way that is morally right. . 

    June - Courage 
    Character Definition: Courage - To have the confidence to meet a challenge, making good choices in the face of fear or obstacles.
