Peace Week 2019
Events and activities list for Peace Week 2019.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be “show your spirit dress up days” connected with theme of the day.
Monday - Practice Peace ☮️
Use tech for positives, RailroaderNation peeps doing RAOK (Random Acts Of Kindness) moments can post these nice deeds using the hashtag #RailroaderRAOK ....each positive photo is a chance also to enter to win a prize.
Tuesday- Express yourself
Kindness Tree - students put ideas up or words of encouragement on how to spread/grow kindness on leaves that are added to the tree for all to see. Random leaf will be picked to win a prize at end of week.
Wednesday- Career day
Students in 11 and 12th grade will participate in a presentation from International Paper on the VARIOUS job and career opportunities in the trades field/At International Paper. After, they will even get a chance to interview and/or apply for employment! Later that evening, there will be a community encore presentation open to the RailroaderNation community where parents and other adult community members can also learn more and even apply for positions at IP!
Best part is our local partner, Historic Grounds, will be catering FREE food including their delicious sandwiches and treats (sponsored by International Paper, available for our first 100 people at event). Please tell friends and neighbors for this amazing opportunity held at our High School 430-630pm.
Thursday - Be part of something greater than oneself
Volunteers (space limited in each time slot) will go up to Elementary school and give back to the younger Railroaders by helping with recess and connecting with their younger peers. Also, some will have the opportunity to volunteer to work on courtyard clean up spring cleaning style 🙂 ....and everyone will come back together for a brief video presentation of the week and message forward as we leave for break and get ready for the last stretch run of the year.
We hope some of the new ideas and activities will help inspire some, connect others and provide perspective on what really matters in our everyday....each other and being part of the RailroaderNation Family.
