Message From Superintendent Dee

November 17, 2021

Dear Whitehall Families,

I am reaching out this afternoon to share some important information that has been distributed to schools throughout Washington County, by the Washington County Department of Public Safety.

COVID cases continue to be on the rise and Washington County now has the highest level of positivity in New York State with a 12.7%,  7-day average.  Whitehall presently has some of the highest rates of positivity in the county.

In an effort to reduce transmission and quarantines among our student body, I would ask that parents that are able, consider transporting your children to and from school until the rates of transmission begin to recede.  Due to the Quarantine guidelines that are set by the DOH, state-wide, we are seeing the highest rates of required quarantines coming from school bus transportation.  Transporting your child greatly limits the possibility of exposure and quarantine for your child.

Understandably, not everyone has the ability to self-transport and as such, bussing will continue to be provided for those that need transportation.  Should you elect to transport your child in grades preK-6, please notify the elementary office so that your child is prepared for circle (parental) pick-up.

As always, I appreciate your continued support and willingness to partner with the district to help to keep our community safe.

Thank you and please, stay healthy.

Patrick Dee
