Message from Superintendent Dee

Dear Whitehall Community,

Over the past weekend, I am sure you and your family members received many AMBER alerts. They were worrisome, and many of us are still on edge. To avoid stress and panic, we are sharing this important information:

On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at approximately 2:20 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) test. This test entails sending a message “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”  It will be sent to televisions, radios, and cell phones within range of a cell tower, as part of FEMA’s nationwide test of its Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS).

You may want to share this information with your child. Even if they do not have a cell phone of their own, they could be in the presence of those who do.
