Savannah Ross Awarded Scholarship from AASBA

The district is pleased to announce that senior Savannah Ross was awarded a scholarship in the amount of $350 from the Adirondack Area School Boards Association (AASBA). The scholarship is based on volunteer and community service and was presented at AASBA’s annual awards dinner  held Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Courtyard Marriott in Lake George.

Savannah is very active in the community and her volunteer efforts include helping at events hosted by Whitehall Elks Lodge #1491, American Legion Post #83, and other charity events held by various organizations. Her event duties ranged from selling tickets, serving meals, to clean up. Savannah is a member of the Holiday Cheer Committee where she helps decorate the town park for holidays as well as Skene Manor. She also uses her creativity to design and create educational displays about wildlife at the Whitehall Recreation Center.

Savannah is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and chorus. In October 2021 she was selected as Whitehall Elks Lodge #1491 student of the month, and in 2022 was selected as a recipient of The Post-Star’s Teen Excellence Award. Outside of school she hones her dance skills at Step ‘N’ Time Dance Studio, a member of the American Legion Junior Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary Unit #83, and Girls Scouts, where she earned both the Girl Scout Silver Award and Girl Scout Gold Award (equivalent to Eagle Scout Award).

Savannah will graduate 8th in Whitehall’s class of 2022 and plans to attend dental school at Adirondack Dental Assisting in the fall. Savannah is the daughter of Sue Hurlburt and Scott Ross.

CONGRATULATIONS SAVANNAH!
