Students Visit Washington D.C.

Forty-three Whitehall Jr./Sr. High School Horizon Club members and five chaperones traveled by motorcoach to visit Washington D.C.

The trip centered around visiting the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as students in Global 10 have been learning about World War II, and students in English 10 read the holocaust memoir "Night" written by Eliezer Wiesel.

One of the many highlights of the trip was the rare opportunity to have access to the Library of Congress all to themselves, where they met with Congresswoman Elise Stefanik. The students also  have the distinction of being the first group of constituents hosted by Congresswoman Stefanik since COVID-19 protocols eased. The group were then given a tour of the U.S. Capitol by one of Congresswoman Stefanik’s aides. The capitol also recently reopened to the public since COVID-19.

Other activities included viewing The White House from outdoors, visiting the National Archives Museum, and SADD members went to the SADD headquarters for lunch. The students also enjoyed a popular night time tour of monuments including the Lincoln Memorial, the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, and the Washington Monument.
