BOE President Roxanne Waters Honored by CASDA

Whitehall School Board of Education President Roxanne Waters was honored with the 2022 CASDA Excellence in School Board Service Award on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the CASDA Annual Awards Dinner held at Franklin Terrace in Troy, NY. This annual award is given by CASDA to recognize individuals who embody the crucial role school board members play in supporting school districts within their community through advocacy, outreach and stewardship. Recipients demonstrate leadership by serving as a point of connection between schools and their community to ensure that school districts provide students and families with dynamic educational opportunities in positive learning environments.

Mrs. Roxanne Waters truly embraces the school board member’s role as a conduit between the school district and community. Serving on the school board since 2017, she was elected Board President for the 2019-20 school year, prior to the onset of the pandemic. As the district was forced to transition to remote learning, Mrs. Waters took on a leadership role in communicating with community members to provide clarity, reassurance and perspective amidst a period of change and uncertainty. When a storm caused significant damage to the building in August 2020,  which forced the closure of the Jr./Sr. High School, she again provided steady leadership to ease community frustration and communicate a clear plan to move the district forward.

Superintendent Patrick Dee stated, “Roxanne has helped guide our district through some of our most challenging times and we are grateful for her leadership. Her dedication has been invaluable to the Whitehall community and makes her an exemplary recipient of the Excellence in School Board Service Award.”
