POSITION: Dean of Students

Title: Dean of Students
Job Description: The Dean of Students will work closely with the principal, school personnel and students to continuously build and maintain a positive and safe school climate. The Dean of Students will be the primary coordinator of student conduct and attendance policies. The Dean of Students will follow the 10 month school calendar as well as 10 working days in the s.ummer.
Qualifications: Administrative certification is preferred by not required. Applicants should have experience in teaching or administration at the Middle/High School level. Applicants must have a valid New York State Teacher or Administrative certification at the time of application.
Knowledge and Abilities: • Positive behavioral interventions and support • Creating and implementing student behavior expectations • Conflict resolution strategies • Follow through on directives • Establish and maintain positive communication with parents, students, faculty and staff • Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment • Works with guidance, social worker and psychologist to develop positive interventions strategies for at risk students. • Meet schedules and deadlines
Duties and Responsibilities: • Develops and administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with state and district policies; receives referrals and confers with students, parents, teachers and law enforcement; responds to and resolves parent, student, and staff concerns and complaints; serves on discipline and expulsion panels as needed. • Monitors and organizes attendance policy creation and enforcement; prepares letters, calls parents, and attends meetings as needed, regarding absent or tardy students; provides leadership for attendance improvement efforts. • Participates as needed in Individual Educational Plans meetings and Student Study Teams. • Supervises students on campus before and after school; monitors students during lunch, passing periods and other activities as needed. • Participate in interviewing, selecting, hiring, supervising and evaluation of faculty and staff. • Prepare quarterly and end of year discipline and attendance reports to present to the principal. • Participate in the planning, preparation and execution of all safety procedures including dissemination of information,drills and training. • Attend professional development opportunities to strength school procedures and guidelines as they relate to the Dean of Students position. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent of Schools.

Non-Instructional Positions

POSITION: Maintenance Mechanic

The Whitehall Central School District is looking to fill the position of Building Maintenance Mechanic. This is a full time, 12 month position. Hours will be 12:00 noon - 8:30 PM

General Responsibilities:

This position supervises or performs repairs to plumbing, steam lines, electric wiring and equipment, furniture, doors and windows, hardware and varied mechanical equipment and machinery. Oversees and takes part in ordinary building cleaning operations. Makes inspection of property ascertain repair needs and performs preventative maintenance. Supervises and participates in a general grounds maintenance program. And is on call for emergencies and for snow plowing. And other duties as required.


$28,000 to $35,000 depending on experience, health and dental insurance as per CSEA contract.

Minimum Qualifications:

(A) One year of journey level experience in one of the recognized skilled trades; or

(B) Four years of experience in either general building construction or maintenance work in one or more of the standard trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.

(C ) An equivalent combination of experience and training within the limits of (A) and (B) Note: Must be a high school graduate and have a valid NYS Drivers' License.
